Capacity Building
Building the in-house capability to put natural capital at the heart of economic policy.
RMGEO builds the in-house capability for Finance Ministries, Central Banks, and multilateral institutions to integrate natural capital into macroeconomic decision-making. We don’t deploy off-the-shelf training—every engagement is co-designed around your specific policy mandates, data realities, and analytical readiness.
What sets the engagement apart: a framework refined and applied in over 40 countries; a working platform that runs the full pipeline end-to-end, not a prototype; and a curated network of senior practitioners assembled specifically for each country, sector, and policy question.
Engagement modalities
Programs are scoped to the institution and the policy question. The modalities below are designed to be combined and sequenced — from a focused workshop to a multi-year embed — to match the time, technical readiness, and priorities you bring to the table.
IEEM+ESM Workshops
Intensive multi-day workshops that take your team through the full IEEM+ESM framework — theoretical foundations, computational mechanics, and hands-on policy scenario analysis. Delivered on-site or virtually, in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
Expert Consultations
Focused technical sessions on specific methodological questions that arise in your work — land demand and allocation, dynamic feedbacks between economy and environment, valuation approaches, or extending an existing macroeconomic framework with new ecosystem service modules.
Custom Model Development
End-to-end construction of an IEEM Platform calibrated to your country and institution — built from a Social Accounting Matrix, environmental and ecosystem service data, and validated against your National Accounts. Delivered with full documentation and replication code.
Policy Scenario Co-Design
Hands-on collaboration with your team to define, calibrate, and run policy scenarios that address current institutional priorities — NDC implementation, fiscal sustainability, climate adaptation, sectoral reforms, and public investment screening.
Institutional Embedding
Longer-term engagements that build IEEM capability inside your institution permanently. Combines targeted training, joint work on live policy analyses, and the development of internal champions who can sustain the capability after we leave.
Training of Trainers
The final step toward self-sufficiency. We train a core analytical team to a level where they can extend IEEM capability to their colleagues, partner institutions, and future cohorts of analysts — independently of RMGEO.
Selected engagements
A selection of recent capacity-building work. Many engagements are governed by client confidentiality and are not listed publicly.
Integrated Economic-Environmental Modeling Zambia (IEEM-ZMB) Workshop — Ninth National Development Plan and National Green Growth Strategy

Hands-on IEEM-ZMB implementation on participants’ laptops, exposure to spatial land-use, land-cover, and ecosystem services modeling, and a working paper drawn from the scenario analysis run during the workshop.
Expert Consultations on Land Demand and Land Allocation in Nature-Aware Macroeconomic Models
Two-day expert consultation at the World Bank on methodological approaches for representing land demand and allocation across competing uses within macroeconomic models that incorporate natural capital and ecosystem services.
Integrated Economic-Environmental Modeling for Evidence-Based Public Policy and Investment Design
Four-day intensive workshop at the Central Bank of Chile covering the full IEEM+ESM framework — theoretical foundations, computational implementation, and policy applications. Designed for Central Bank economists, Ministry of Finance analysts, and research staff.

Build the capability your institution needs.
Every engagement starts with one conversation about your policy questions, your data, and what your team needs to deliver. Tell us about your context and we’ll design from there.
